Nick with his two children, Andrew and Constance
About Us
The Nick's House of Pizza story begins in Piraeus,Greece - a lovely port-side suburb of Athens. This is where owner Nick Gabriel grew up, learning from family how to cook traditional Greek cuisine. Nick's son and co-owner, Andrew, was also born in Piraeus. Their family also hails from Evritania, the mountain region of Greece, which has its own unique culture.
In 1988, business opportunities brought Nick and Andrew to Florence, SC. Nick owned and operated his first restaurant, Nikos, for several years, bringing Greek food to an area that did not have many dining options at that time. It is also where Nick's daughter, Constance, was born and raised.
In 1998, Nick and Andrew relocated to Columbia, in search of a bigger city (and to give Andrew the opportunity to attend the University of South Carolina…GO COCKS!). They opened the ORIGINAL Nick's House of Pizza, and they have been happy to serve Columbia since!
There have been other restaurants open in the area with similar concepts (and similar names), but Nick's House of Pizza in West Columbia is not affiliated with any other local restaurants. They are family-owned and operated, and proud of it.
